City of Leeds Curfew Clarification

There are still additional questions and inquiries about the current curfew for the City of Leeds so this post is designed to help you understand what you can and cannot do during this imposed curfew time from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am. Retailers and businesses are not prohibited from being open past 6:00 pm in the City of Leeds. Residents can perform essential tasks outside their home such as going to get food at the grocery store or from a local restaurant, getting medicine from the pharmacy, etc. If you get stopped and you are doing an essential task or your trip has purpose, you should be okay. If you are just out joy riding or do not have a purpose for your trip, then you need to stay home. If you are passing through the City of Leeds to get from point A to point B, as long as you are just traveling through peacefully and not throwing out Molotov cocktails or causing anyone or property harm, you should be okay.

No loitering, no vigils, no standing around or anything that would contribute to the chance of any civil unrest within the city limits of Leeds.

The exceptions to this would be that Jefferson County has also imposed a mandatory curfew from 7:00 pm to 6:00 pm which the City of Leeds has no control over. Jefferson County has called in the National Guard to help handle all of the civil unrest and damage that is happening all over the county so if you are stopped in Jefferson County, whatever their rules are will apply.

If you are in St. Clair County, here are a different set of guidelines or methods of handling any civil unrest. Someone mentioned on Facebook that Van's was open past 6:00 pm. Van is in St. Clair County and they serve food. As mentioned above, leaving your home for necessities such as food, meds, etc. are fine, just don't be out in the streets for no reason.

The long and short of it is the City of Leeds is working tirelessly to protect the citizens of Leeds, local businesses and your personal property. We appreciate your patience and hope that you understand that we have your best interest at heart!
